The Essence of Chado
Chado is a Japanese word that translates to “the way of tea,” encompassing the entire ceremony from the preparation to the serving and finally to the consumption of tea. The Japanese Tea Ceremony is referred to as “Chado” or “Sado,” which when translated means “the way of tea” or “the tea’s path”.
In this ceremony, there are four prominent elements: Harmony, Respect, Purity, and Tranquility. These four elements also encapsulate the philosophy of the Far East, where tea originates.
